Physical Inactivity

Being physically active lowers your blood pressure and cholesterol. It also controls your blood sugar as well as helps you to maintain a healthy weight.

It is recommended to spend at least 30 minutes of the day being active. Contrary to common belief, these 30 minutes are not necessarily an intense work out!

Some tips of incorporating physical activity include:

  • Gardening
  • Playing with children
  • Walking (i.e. get off a stop earlier and walk to your destination, taking the stairs instead of an elevator, parking your car further)
  • Dancing
  • Riding a bike
  • Taking fitness breaks instead of coffee breaks
